Frequently Asked Questions
Are you licensed, insured, and bonded?
We are fully licensed and insured—we carry general liability and workers' compensation. I am happy to email you a copy of our certificate of insurance for your records; just let me know the best address to send it to.
Who handles permits and utility markings?
We always call in the utility markings ourselves. That is Dig Rite, and we handle it on every job before anyone breaks ground—you do not need to do anything for that. Permits are the client's responsibility. Requirements vary quite a bit from one city or municipality to the next, and most homeowners prefer to pull their own because it is a simple process and it saves them money. If you would rather we take care of it, we can, for an additional charge—just let us know.
How long before I can walk or drive on my new concrete?
Foot traffic after 24 hours, and vehicles after 7 days. Driving on it early is the one thing that can damage an otherwise perfect slab, so please give it the full seven days.
Can you provide local references for your work?
The best look at our work is our reviews and our photo gallery. Our website and our Facebook page have finished projects from all over the St. Louis Metro area, and our Google reviews come from local homeowners. We do not give out our clients' contact information, but we are glad to point you to plenty of finished work you can see for yourself.
Will you be using rebar, fiber mesh, or wire mesh?
On most jobs we use fiber mesh and wire mesh together. The combination adds tensile strength and helps the slab release moisture evenly, which gives us a more even cure. We use rebar where the plans call for it, and in our short walls. Rebar goes only into pours over 5 inches—we do not put rebar in a pour of 4 inches or less. Let me look at your proposal, and I can tell you what we recommend for your project.
When can you seal my concrete?
Concrete has to fully cure first, which is about 28 to 30 days after the pour. We can come back and seal it for you—it is scheduled as a return trip. Your thank-you packet also has the full care instructions in it.
What is our project timeline?
We are currently scheduling contracts that come in this week for this month, and the month we have you marked down for is specified in your welcome packet. Once we get within two to three weeks of your project, we call Dig Rite for the utility locates and schedule your walk-through. That is when your actual dates firm up, weather permitting, since our schedule moves with it.
Do you provide lien waivers?
Yes, and you will not have to ask for them. A partial lien waiver is signed and included in your welcome packet at the start of your job, and a final lien waiver is signed and included in your thank-you packet when the job is complete. Both are signed by an owner of the company.
